I'll need to define some of these terms later.
The table layout:
2 big stacks at the table - $600 to $700 - one immediately to my right.
One of the big stacks is a very lucky newbie - called every bet.
Most everyone else solid - no one obviously working together.
Many of them only cashed in for $100, $110 or $150 - a strategic mistake, particularly with the crazy newbie.
No one obviously drunk, tilting, or otherwise out of the ordinary.
9 player table, full.
$1/$2
Lots and lots of raises to $12 or $15 pre-flop.
Lots of straddle bets.
Fairly standard for a $12 or $15 bet to get 6 way action at the flop.
Hand 1:
A3 clubs - I am out of position - 5 or 6 way action with about $50 in the pot pre-flop
Flop comes KAA, and big bet from player two to my right is called by big stack immediately to my right.
I call - figuring all 3 of us have Aces and my 3 won't play
Turn is garbage - can't remember if we all 3 checked or called medium bets.
River is the 4th ace . . . meaning I have the nuts.
Checked to me, and I bet $75 into a $200+ pot.... both of them called with a singleton K and I took home a nice pot.
Hand 2:
Made a J high flush and just missed a straight flush.
Folded an $80 bet with $200 in the pot.
The better had a better flush, either A or K - good laydown.
Final Hand
Limped in or called a small bet with Q7 spades - was probably in big blind.
Was ready to go home and had about $420 in front of me - looking for an excuse for a 'last hand' at the table.
Flop comes AK spades and garbage - solid player two to my left bets $30 out of a $140 stack.
With several calls, it's an easy bet to make for the nut flush draw with two cards to come.
Turn comes gargabe and he bets again - all in, so $109 - it folds to me, and the guy next to me has about $100 in his stack.
I debate and talk a bit, then go all in to push the guy beside me all in.
I'm drawing for the nuts, is my assumption.
He turns over AK, the river comes 4 spades to hit my nut flush and I finish up big for the night.
I only called because I wanted a big win - the odds weren't great, but decent - and if I lost, I'm just walking out with what I started with - $300
